Printer problems

I have just installed and set up my printer (HP PSC 1500 series) and it works. Sort of. The tests work showing it has ink and it all plugged in etc. But i can't seem to get it to print any of my word docs. The paper goes through so it knows i have asked it to print and yet when the paper comes out there is nothing printed out. Just blank paper still. I am very baffled. i am pretty sure it's something basic i am missing but not sure what. Any ideas?

Hi, I used to have a much earlier version and didn't have that sort of problem, however I have found first a set up guide, possibly a bit more comprehensive than the usual quick set up guide that comes with the printer which may help in showing something you might have missed. have a look here :-

Also, will it print from a scan, have you tried that?

Also, it might sound daft, but have you removed the protective sticker over the print head on the cartridges?

i don't think it's the printer per se. The print test actually prints the tests showing me it works. its just not printing normal things. i am wondering if it's a setting somewhere on the PC??

Hi nick.

Couple of things I can think of....

 

Have you tried printing different types of document, for ex a Word file or page and a pdf?

 

Check the paper size is set to A4, sometimes US letter setting is the default and it can halt a print.
