Elise1234 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Running Widows 7. Have 3 User Profiles. The one in my name has disappeared. I get an error message The User Profile, failed the login. User profile cannot be loaded. I am using my wife's profile currently. I have attempted to run free scans from the Internet, but am being asked for an administrators password, which has never happened before. I have downloaded before onto my Hard Drive, from the Internet, and never had a problem. My web browser does ask me if I wish to continue the download, which I accept. But I have never been asked for an administrators password. I am pretty sure that I have something on my computer. I have run Microsoft Security Essentials, which did pick up 6 Trojans, which have now been got rid off. But the problem still exists. Driving me nuts. Any help out there. Thanks Chris Harris Quote
Plastic Nev Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Hi Chris, Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. This sounds like a user profile corruption which could be down to some damage done by those trojans. Before we look into sorting that out, lets be sure there is no other malware lurking in the background or anything left behind from those trojans. Please have a look at this thread and the instructions, carry them out and then post the results here in this thread. http://extremetechsupport.com/threads/10689-Before-posting-for-Malware-Removal-help-WinXP-Vista-and-Win7#.UpXMuuKyM4c I will alert the malware specialists to look, and later this thread may be moved to the malware forums. Thanks Chris Harris Thanks NEV. I have downloaded the file, but as soon as I ask to run the file, I get asked for an Administrator password. Which I have no Idea what it is. This is one of the problems I have been having, that I can't download anything without putting in the Administrator password. Never had to do that before. Thanks Chris Quote
KenB Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Hi Chris Try running MBAM in Safe Mode. Re-boot the system and constantly tap F8 about once per second. You should get a list of options .........Safe Mode will be one of them. ( you can use Safe Mode with Networking if you still need to d/l MBAM ) Install > Update ( important ) > Run MBAM It will produce a log in Notepad. Copy this and post it here please. Starbuck Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I have run Microsoft Security Essentials, which did pick up 6 Trojans, which have now been got rid off. Any idea what was removed? If you can't remember, take a look and see what is in the quarantine folder: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/quarantine-580-90_zps1e75bbbf.jpg Select: All detected Items See if you can take a screenshot of the list and post it here. It may give us a clue as to what is going on. Have 3 User Profiles. The one in my name has disappeared. So one of the other profiles must be an Administrator profile..... or both could be ( depends on how the profiles were set up). From an Admin profile you could check the 2 profiles left and see if any password has been added.... you can also remove them using an Admin account. Have you tried setting yourself a new profile from the existing Admin account? Running Widows 7 Is this a 32bit or 64bit system? If you are unsure what you're system bit type is..... click Here for help. Thanks. Quote Member of:UNITE
