So, I had my PC upgraded to ASUS Motherboard, 2 GFX card slots, GTX 650ti SSC evega 2g, AMD quad core 4Ghz and 8 gig of ram DDR3,

So, I got it back and I have been meaning to get round to this, but after like the first 3 weeks I updated windows. It got to the part where it was trying to configure the updates next time I started up my PC. It got to 32% and froze. The loading circle stopped, and nothing else happened. I restarted my PC Hoping for the best and instead of starting at 1% it appears to be at 32% When first starts to try and configure. And after half a minute or so it freezes. I got my PC back to normal via starting safe mode, and returning the updates back. I attempted to install the updates again, downloaded them everything was going good and as soon as I got to the part to restart my PC again, the same happened. This time is started off at 32% and froze in 1 min. I got no Bios error sounds nothing. My windows 7 Home Premuim is Genuine and is 64 bit. In the update history, majority of the updates failed and some cases all of them. I CAN'T reformat my PC, I CAN'T. I got important info, files, and everything. Not to mention no where or funds to back my files up. So, if someone knows a fix please help me. Just to make it clear, I tried the windows 7 update fix thing, which they provide and that does nothing at all...

Here is a SS of updates it says I have, and after failing to configure history log. Also what I have noticed, is that when shutting down it says "Configuring updates" Reaches 30% and shutsdown. Then loops back to being started on 32% and freezing.

Hi, if the Microsoft fixit did not work, and previous to the upgrade you had problems, then it is looking like some corruption within Windows itself.

Windows 7 can be repaired by a reinstall without damaging or deleting your data, but it does need the disk.

If you haven't got a disk and cannot borrow one, how about the people who did the upgrade for you?

Yea, I still have my disc somewhere. How would I go about doing it? Just putting it in?

Hi, it does have to be the original Windows 7 disk and not a manufacturers recovery disk or of the type you burn yourself when acquired from new.

Also, it helps if the operating system is with service pack 1 that the disk should also be complete with service pack 1.

Though with the past history of bad updates, you might not have been able to get service pack 1 on it.

However, here are full instructions for doing a Windows 7 repair. I now see they say you can actually download and burn a disk anyway so long as the download matches your original system.

To save me a tremendous amount of typing, have a look here :-

If you can follow that, you should then have an operating system that should be able to update correctly.

Hi, that means the disk you have is the original Windows 7 and somehow the installed Windows 7 has managed to get service pack 1 installed.

Have you been in touch with the guys who put your motherboard in and did the other upgrades? If they are a reputable company, and wishing to keep a good name, they should have an up to date disk and be able to do it all for you at minimal charge or at best for free.

Worth asking them before tying yourself up trying to do it yourself and risking getting it wrong.

However to go further yourself now, it will mean downloading and burning a disk with that service pack 1 as part of it from the links within the article I linked to.

However, if service pack 1 has managed to install, it does make me wonder why it cannot now download newer updates.

I am hoping that a download of the latest version with service pack 1 can be used OK to repair it, and hopefully solve the problem.
