john-the-plotter Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I have a TP-Link TD-w8968 Wireless N modem router, which has let me down again (faulty I suspect) Plugged in as normal but no ADSL light. No matter what I try the light does not come on, so I cannot connect. It was working previously but now it is not. I purchased this from Argos and I have already had to take 2 of these back as faulty so I am considering taking this back for a refund and buying an alternative brand. I know the ADSL line is not the problem because I am connected via a hard wired Sagem modem. Can anyone recommend a GOOD adsl wireless modem router, that is both reliable and reasonably priced. It is being used in a normal semi with phoneline downstairs and pc upstairs. This is why I want wireless to avoid having a internet extension lead trailing up the stairs, which is what I am using at the moment. Also will another brand of modem/router work with a Tp link USB 300Mbps N adapter that I have. I have looked at the Which report and they don't seem to rate any off the shelf modem/routers that highly and the top rated one linksys x2000 gets poor customer reviews. Are all modem /routers rubbish ? My ISP is Plus Net; I declined their modem/ router because I had previously bought this TP-link one. Maybe I might be better just getting the one that plus net offer ? Thanks John Quote
KenB Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Hi John It is always difficult advising members how to spend their money :) Take a look here: click here Do a few comparisons and read the reviews. Also will another brand of modem/router work with a Tp link USB 300Mbps N adapter Yes it will as long as the router is "n" rated - even if it isn't it should still work ..... but data transfer will be slower.
