Laptop running really slow - svchost problem?

Hi,

My laptop is on a real go slow. When I look at what "processes" are running, something called svchost.exe is using 99 cpu.

Is this the problem and how can I fix it?

Note - this is for XP machines only.

I am not on my XP machine so cannot verify that this "fix" will work.

 

You may wish to wait to see if one of the other staff here has another option.

 

If you do decide to give it a try - save the files to your desktop ......easier to find :)

Just to add that having multiple entries for svchost.exe running is quite normal:

But they shouldn't cause the cpu to run at 99%
