Hello,

I have several rather large music video clips (in MP3 format) that I would to edit so I only have the particular parts that interest me.

What is the simplest most effective way of doing this?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi, first thanks GRANDAD, I had a quick look at the Freemake, it is mainly intended as a video converter, though will do very basic editing as in cut and join but with little or no extra's, it may do all you need.

However if wanting to add effects, edit also the sound track, the best basic and free editor is Windows own Movie Maker, being on Windows 8 the latest from Microsoft is designed to work with it.

Have a look here :-

There are many different and easy to follow tutorials on Youtube to get the best out of Windows Movie maker, though it isn't too difficult to get at least the basics sorted out.

I have experimented in the past with various of the free video editors and Windows Movie maker is better than most, the only way to get better is to pay for it.

I did recently have a look at a full professional standard "Lightworks" which is fairly cheap, but only a twelve month license, however a brilliant editor once learned how to use it if willing to spend a little money.

Depends on how much editing you may need to do in the future of course, if this is a one off, then stick with free.

Hi I agree Windows Movie maker is in many ways better as you can fade in ect on video. Takes a little longer to do but is good also. As VAVASEUR asks 'What is the simplest most effective way of doing this?' then for MP3 format just to crop and join , Freemake is just adequate.

There will be no doubt many more comments and programms to follow.

Have a nice day.

Thanks for these helpful replies. I did, of course, mean to say MP4 files. I will try Windows Movie Maker.

Thanks again.

I agree with the guys above. Windows Movie Maker is basic but good for simple cutting and editing. I play basketball and we get both the men's and women's games recorded and I just edit them with movie maker. Meets my needs exactly and everyone seems to like the videos enough.
