Not sure if this is the right section? sorry if it isn't. OK ive had this problem with my computer for a while but its only recently become a big enough one for me to bother trying to sort it.

Whenever i set my computer to anything higher than 800x600 resolution images and windows show up fine but in-game/ menus/ icon text in windows and everything else (even the internet) appears garbled (for lack of a better word). the text is readable but barely and i just spent30 quid on a game that doesnt support a resolution as low as the one i use.

please help

oh and if it helps i'm using a Winfast nvidia 6600 Graphics card and a 20" lcd tv as a monitor (through the vga port)

Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help blue.

Here's a couple of things to try:

1) Toggle "Clear Type" by going to Control Panel>Display Properties>Appearance>Effects.

2) Download the latest graphic drivers from here (Use Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products) http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Also keep in mind that LCD's are designed to display at a specific resolution (which is much higher than 800 X 600). As such, you may not be able to get a proper display unless you use the native resolution.

I get the feeling this doesn't have anything to do with your computer, but rather the LCD TV.

Anyone else agree?

using a vga male to male

How is this possible?

What is the model number of the TV?

With more thought, I'm suspecting the TV doesn't support anything over 800 X600, or if it does, you may have to use a different connector or change a setting on the TV.

It's possible.

The manual for the TV will tell ya'. Do you still have it? If not, we should be able to find it online with the model number.
