crl Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Am using a Samsung PC running Windows 7. DVD Flick used to work okay and has recently stopped working - it runs and seems to be working, but fails to burn disks, erroring at the last minute. I have reinstalled latest version of DVD Flick but still get the same problem. I have tried playing a CD in the drive and that works fine. Unsure what the problem is at this stage! Quote
RandyL Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Hi again crl. Was DVD Flick part of your original Samsung Windows installation? Can you burn DVD's with the default Windows software? Can you burn CD's with the default Windows software? Can you read DVD's as well as CD's? This may be a faulty optical drive and not a software problem. Read and write are two different components. Try playing both CD's and DVD's. Try writing both CD's and DVD's with DVD Flick. Try writing CD's and DVD's with the inbuilt Windows software. Quote We are all members helping other members. Plastic Nev Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Hi, what you are possibly seeing is firstly the software, either the DVD Flick, or Windows own, creating and converting the files ready to burn, hence seeing the initial part way through, however once it actually tries to burn, it is failing at that point, which does point to a faulty DVD burning head in the drive itself. As RandyL said earlier, the burning head is a different head from the head that reads and plays a disk, the only cure is a replacement of the drive. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? crl Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 Cheers - will send off for repair / replacement! KenB Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Cheers - will send off for repair / replacement! As Nev is not on-line at the moment ......... This is a relatively simple job to do yourself. I am sure Nev could talk you through it. Save yourself the tech charges. They do not repair DVD drives - it is cheaper to replace.
