Hi all,

im setting up a small home based business and currently use Sky for my broadband. Ive registered a domain with names.co.uk and they have provided me with an email address etc. ive bought outlook 2013 but regardless of the ports and set-ups I choose I cannot send outgoing mail. Ive spoken with Sky and they are fairly useless but do say that Sky broadband doesnt allow third parties to send over their broadband.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this at all? I have basic IT skills so Im stumped at present. If i need to change broadband providers then fine but it would be good to know if anyone else uses a 'work' email address on their sky broadband service.

Hope to hear from someone soon.

Thanks Mark

A domain name is not enough. Did you signup for a web host plan or email host plan?

The next question would be, Is it POP or IMAP?

Check these.

thanks for your reply, it is a POP email account and Ive gone through the set up process in outlook without success. I may have to purchase an improved service.

I'll talk to my domain email provider tomorrow

Let us know what they say mark.

One thing you might want to try is to see if it's a problem on their end by sending mail by web mail instead of through Outlook.

Logon here. http://webmail4.names.co.uk/

Also sometimes it is easier to delete an account in Outlook and start over instead of changing settings.

And then there is the settings themselves that vary with the provider. Even little things matter like SSL and Authenication. Only they know the correct settings for their client.
