Hi Joannie,

If you are only on SP2, you have a lot of catching up to do.

Obviously your automatic updates are not turned on.

As you are new to this, i suggest you use the Microsoft Fixit for turning on automatic updates.

Click the Fix this problem link below.

Then click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in the wizard.

Fix this problem

No you won't lose anything.

If you get stuck just post back and we'll help you with it.

Hi joanie, now you have updates turned on, the system may see you still require service pack 3 and do it automatically.

However if you wish to make sure and need to be sure it is installed, click this link, read the page first, then click each link on the page in the order given.

As Nev says, the updates will probably start to come through automatically now.

Mind you, the updates may take awhile to fully complete as there have been a lot of updates since SP2.

Some will need to be installed before others.... so may take a day or two to complete.

The updates are for the operating system.... none of the updates will touch your personal folders or documents.

Hi Joanie, nothing will be lost or deleted during these updates, they are only changes to Windows itself, and does not affect any other data, pictures, music, documents will all stay the same.
