colinmachin Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 hi im new to the forum i have windows 7 on a lap top i connect to the internet using a dongle on 3 its worked fine for 6 months but now its running very slow and says timed out when select a new page i check the connection and it says that its connected to the internet but it also says ,no internet access when i try to sort it out it says the dns server is not responding ,if i plug the dongle in another usb it will work longer but still keeps disconnecting im not very good with the pc yet . some times it will stay on for quiet a while .thanks for any advice . KenB Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Hi and welcome to ExTS :) If you have an ethernet lead - use this to connect the laptop direct to the router. See if this keeps the connection stable. http://www.techcrok.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Ethernet-Cables.jpg The router connection is usually at the back and there may be up to 4 available sockets - use any. Let us know if this "solves" the problem - we can look at the wireless option then. What is the make and model number of your laptop ? I assume it does not have an internal wireless adapter ?
