PEV Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I have a HP Pavillion PC and keyboard circa 2003. As the keyboard has got so old the letters/numbers are wearing out my daughter bought a new Del keyboard cheap from a car boot sale (£2) -- I find that the Del keyboard has a USB type connector to go into the box which is entirly different to the HP connector. Is there another port where I can plug in the USB type connector or is this an impass? Any suggestions please including where to get a cheap replacement HP keyboard? Thanks Ray Quote
Plastic Nev Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Hi Pev, I assume the keyboard port on the old computer is the round PS2 type, or is it even earlier and a "D" shape? I take it there are no USB ports on the computer too? If the computer has a PS2 style port, you can get an adapter to take a USB type plug, have a look here :- http://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-com-Replacement-USB-Keyboard-Adapter/dp/B000A0K2JO/ref=pd_sim_computers_4 Can't be sure it will work, but at the price, why not try it? KenB Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I have one of these adapters - they do work :) If the pc has a USB port - you can plug in directly to this.
