Wifi router again

I have an old wireless router at home that when connecting through smart phone you had to enter the password! Since that time I've got a new router! The idea is to plug my old one straight in through an Ethernet cable (just using the router to make it wireless) it won't be connected to a computer, so the question is will it still ask me for my password when I try to connect?

Depends if you set up a password or not.

Most newer routers have the password set as default.

The password can be found on a sticker either on the back or the base of the router.

Yes the router had a password on it before I stopped using it, so will that still be in place if I do what I say in the original question?

If I understand the question properly ... you have your new router set up and want to use the old router to extend the wireless range though the property ...

 

If so, you'll need to change the settings on the old one and use the password from the new one.

 

The setting procedure is available on the internet ... and, as Ken says, the new password in on the back of the new router.

The non wifi router would get the internet from his provider and would be shuffled off to his wifi router through an Ethernet cable once he sets it up and then the wifi router would broadcast the signal to the device. And to use the wireless he would use the password from the old wireless router, which is the same from the last time he used it.

I thought the new, first in line, router might also be wireless and the object was to increase the wifi range using a slave router ... (Which uses the initial routers wireless password) but I noticed the same person had posted a similar query referring to a system on a ship! ... so I'm lost.:rolleyes:
