Hi

I have a canon pixma mp610 which has always worked fine. Now it will not. When I plug it into my laptop I get a message "USB device not recognised. The last USB device you plugged in malfunctioned, windows doesn't recognise it"

I assume the lead is ok as the screen on the printer lights if I add/remove the cable from my laptop.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Ian

Hi,

Do you still have the installation disk that came with the printer?

If you do, it may be best to start from scratch to make sure there isn't a problem with the computers driver files.

So first of all disconnect the printer from the computer, then go to control panel, and then programs, search out and uninstall everything related to the printer.

Next first make sure the printer is still disconnected and insert the disk, it should prompt you to connect the printer near the end of the install, so do that then.

See if that cures the problem.

Hi

Thanks, I didn't have the disk but found a driver on the internet and it is now working. Appreciate the help thank you.

When I was looking in the printer settings I noticed an error on my laptop. It said "Renesas USB 3.00 extensible host controller -- 0096 (Microsoft). Code 43. Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Any idea what I have to do about that?

Ian
