jayden-lee Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 nope, nothing at all, i tried the earliest and still didn't work, i really dont want to have to fully reset my laptop but i will as a last resort Quote
KenB Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 ive tried a bunch of other working keybords I assume these were USB keyboards ? Do the USB ports work with other USB devices? =================== There is an option to Refresh your PC. This will not affect files and data. It will, however, revert your pc to pre 8.1 and this will need to be re-installed. It will remove recent updates. It will restore everything to original settings. This may be worth a try before a total reinstall. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! kernel Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) Windows 8.1 switched to Intels xHCI USB controller interface, which is far different then that of other generations of controller interfaces. It could be that Acer has not released a driver yet that is able to communicate from your keyboard to the controller interface. The simplest way to fix this would be to search for driver updates. To see if their is an update for your USB's hit the Windows Key and type "Device Manager". Open it and scroll down a ways till you find a section called "Universal Serial Bus controllers", click the arrow and a drop down list will appear of all the different devices on your system. Go down the list and right click them, then select "update driver software" there may or may not be an update for the device. If none need updating , you can disable the new interface and use the older generation. To accomplish this go to the UEFI BIOS and under the advanced tab disable Intel XCHI Mode and that should fix your problem. Edited February 5, 2014 by kernel Quote
