Hello everybody. I have an Znote 6314W an Atheros AR5008X. I have tried everything all you people are suggesting. Sleep options, wireless software, firewall.... Nothing helps. My wireless adapter works fine when there is a low connection but when there is a lot of data flowing in then it shuts down so I have to click the button shut and open again so it will work again. I mean it works fine, it could even work for couple of hours but just as I said until it gets heavy. I checked many forums and everybody suggest either energy options to buying a new laptop. Maybe I will someday buy a new one but until then I REALLY WANT TO SOLVE THIS!! I want to know what is wrong....suggestions? Professional suggestions? Also is there any software that can FORCE- open the wireless connection?

It could be that 2 drivers conflict with each other, in that case you may never solve the problem, I use a direct cable to my laptop for a similar reason. One idea is to limit the internet speed so it doesn't reach the limit which triggers the wifi adapter to shut down.. or the cable :).

You could also try changing the channel that the router broadcasts on.

There are normally 13 BUT ....channel 1 / 6 / or 11 are the usual preferences.

( no overlap of signal )

You would need to access the router software to do this.

Just shout if you need help with this.

Please don't make changes to Services - if your system is dropping a connection it is not likely to be a service problem.

And another thing, my WLAN AutoConfig is on automatic

Are you getting help from somewhere else too ?

This could be counter-productive.

We need to know which router you have to explain properly how to change the Channel.

Try this ....

Open Internet Explorer ... ( how you access the internet )

In the address bar at the top [ where is says http://www. etc etc ] Delete all of this so that the box is blank.

Type in ......192.168.1.1 .....ENTER

If nothing happens try .....192.168.2.1 ..... ENTER

This is why we need to know your router make and model number.

If you DO manage to get to the box that asks for Login and Password this can often be left blank or admin is the word for both.

Once into the router software you are looking for the Channel Option.

This will be under "Wireless" and could be in a sub folder "Advanced"

If you are having problems here - post your router make and model.

==========

It could be that the router is failing and needs replacing.

I have had a few routers that have gone this way. Seemingly OK for a short time > drops the connection > connects again for a while then the process repeats over.

The solution was to replace the router.

[ they don't last forever ]

Let's see how changing the channel goes.
