How to decrease sound of Facebook Notifications exclusively?

Hi all,

 

I know it is possible to eliminate the Facebook Sounds following this guideline http://audioacrobat.wordpress.com/2013/01/09/how-to-turn-off-facebook-notification-sounds/

But, how to decrease the sound of Facebook messaging only? Because Eventually I am playing a YouTube video at one sound level, but don't want Facebook to bother me with notifications so intensively.

I don't think you can turn the volume down, only turn it off as the sound is not a part of your computers sound scheme, it is direct from facebook from what I can find out about it. Either turn it off as that article tells you how, or have it on, I am afraid it looks like there is no half way point.

Hmm, if there isn't a chrome extension for this, there should be one, don't you think so? Or am I being very picky with these noise control issues? :D

Well, I will ask a friend if he can develop that extension :D I will post here if we make it ;)

Indeed these things can be a nuisance, even though it is a windows own sound, my E Mail notification sound can sometimes be too loud and the only control of that is the main volume. The only other way is to record a custom sound at low volume and put that into the Windows sound scheme.

However even that isn't an option with the facebook sounds as they are external.

 

If an app can be created, no doubt many folk would be grateful of that too.

I did some research and so far what I can see is that extensions can only control one volume. But I need to ask someone who is an expert in the field :)
