Recovering emails?

I came to conclusion last night - they have gone forever

I have tried for 2 days - and nothing.

So I am going to give up. At least I tried

I can then get my room back together as at the mo. have my old xp, the windows 8 machine and my windows 7 all set up.

The company I was emailing use their company name then co.uk

Have you been in touch with the "company.co.uk" to see if they have retained the emails?

 

It is possible the whole of the conversation is on one single email ... the last one they replied to.

So if my machine opens up on google but I then click to aol and send my emails - would this still be on google harddisk?

 

If so would like to try as from november to feb 6th this is when the action happened and this is when I had my windows 8 and xp going both at same time

Also have a samsung galaxy phone that only comes out of the box when we are away - mainly to tell the kids how much we are enjoing spending their inheritance

I never delete anything from that (I only know how to send/receive emails). Could I have a look at that?

It has nothing to do with Google Louise, and everything to do with AOL.

 

Imagine if you had only ever sent 6 emails.

 

One email on the 1^st of each month since October 2013 and you had received a reply to each one of them the same day.

 

If you never deleted anything there would now 6 emails in your sent folder on the AOL web site and 6 emails in the inbox folder.

 

If you had deleted the 1^st December emails, both the one you sent and the reply there would now be 5 in the sent folder, 5 in the inbox and 2 in the deleted folder.

 

If you had emptied the deleted folder in January the 2 emails from December would have gone forever, leaving 10 emails on AOL webmail as we speak.

 

Now consider the Samsung Phone ... if it had not been used since last Sept 2013 and you turned it on now ... went to AOL and logged on it would show the current situation ... 10 emails with no sign of the December ones you permanently deleted in January.

 

Depending on how the phone is set up ... if by chance it was last used at Christmas and it accessed AOL email at the time ... a time when there were 2 in the sent box, 2 in the inbox, and 2 in the deleted folder, it may still look the same now. The trick is ... not to go on the internet with the phone until you have checked.

Oh yes. Doubt if they will - that'swhy I amdesperate for the email to prove them wrong

I think I am going to ring round locally and see if one of these people that advertise recovery data - see if any joy

Be sure not to be ripped off ... on the face of it there doesn't seem to be anything to recover with regard to emails.

 

When I'm having an on-going conversation with a company I'm doing the typing in Word and using Copy & Paste to apply it to the email message box. I would then save the Word Document. If you did the same thing at the time it might be possible to recover that from an hard drive even after it's been deleted.

I know you are desperate to get at these emails but Ray has explained it all very well.

Unless you know that they were saved onto your hard drive they are ( or were ) on the AOL server and not on your machine at all.

 

Paying somebody to "recover" what is not there seems fruitless and expensive.

 

Have you contacted AOL to see if they can provide you with copies of all emails between specific dates.

I know where I used to work the IT guys could often retrieve "deleted" files etc from the servers.

AOL are no different - they will have backup copies .....it is just a case of how co-operative they will be when you ask.

 

I repeat again though ..... please be careful about asking recovery people to get back what may not be there.

( This is not a cheap process )

I think you have made the right decision.

 

I don't think your emails were ever on your system - they were on AOL's servers.

I am sorry that you could not re-claim them.

It may be prudent to make copies of important emails and save them in a Word file on your system.

( I think this was suggested earlier :) )

I know myself I tried.

Consoled myself spending more of kid's inheritance booked short hol. in scotland (along the m6 - road from hell)!!!!

This may be an helpful way to avoid the problem in future ...

 

Create a new email account; Hotmail is on this page,

 

https://signup.live.com/signup.aspx?lic=1

 

Click “choose a new email address”

 

If your current AOL email address is “something1234” at AOL you can try registering “something1234” at hotmail to make it easier to remember, you can also use the same password.

 

Practice sending emails from one account to the other, but otherwise don’t use the new account for anything.

 

Then ... when sending important emails from your AOL account click the CC button on the top right ... a new address box opens ... click the contacts icon on the right ... click your new Hotmail email address from the list ... a copy of the AOL email will be sent to your new Hotmail address and stored on the Microsoft website.
