chocolateman327 Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 my HP Pavilion g6-1220sa constantly takes me out of fullscreen when playing games or watching videos in fullscreen. i've tried different fixes which i found online like booting in safe mode and scanning for viruses with multiple programs, updating drivers and starting up with only the necessary services but nothing seems to solve it. when i get taken out of fullscreen when playing games i see a process for a brief second in the taskbar then it disappears. I always use razer game booster when playing a game which is supposed to prevent me from being taken out of fullscreen but it doesn't help. Quote
ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted March 31, 2014 ExTS Admin Posted March 31, 2014 Hi chocolateman327 and welcome to FPCH, constantly takes me out of fullscreen when playing games or watching videos in fullscreen. What software are you using for viewing videos? when i get taken out of fullscreen when playing games i see a process for a brief second in the taskbar then it disappears Any idea of what this process is called? I always use razer game booster when playing a game which is supposed to prevent me from being taken out of fullscreen but it doesn't help. From what i read, it doesn't seem to do much anyway: Benchmark Results We’re skeptical about these promises, so we ran a few benchmarks with the benchmark tools built into a few recent games — both with and without Razer’s “Game Mode” enabled. Here are a few benchmark results taken from our system, performed with high graphical settings: Batman: Arkham Asylum Minimum: 31 FPS Maximum: 62 FPS Average: 54 FPS Batman: Arkham Asylum (With Game Booster) Minimum: 30 FPS Maximum: 61 FPS Average: 54 FPS Interestingly enough, the benchmark was actually slightly slower with Game Mode enabled. The results here are well within the margin of error, however. Game Mode didn’t slow anything down, but it also didn’t speed anything up. Game Mode didn’t do much of anything at all. Metro 2033 Average Framerate: 17.67 FPS Max. Framerate: 73.52 FPS Min. Framerate: 4.55 FPS Metro 2033 (With Game Booster) Average Framerate: 16.67 FPS Max. Framerate: 73.59 FPS Min. Framerate: 4.58 FPS http://www.howtogeek.com/171734/benchmarked-will-a-game-booster-improve-your-pc-gaming-performance/ Quote Member of:UNITE
chocolateman327 Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 (edited) it happens when i watch videos on anything which i'm running in fullscreen, including watching videos on websites like youtube. sadly i do not know what the process is called as the icon only appears in the taskbar very briefly, if there is a way to monitor the processes so i can find out what it is i would love to know excluding task manager as it only happens when i'm in full screen. it doesn't do much apart from take me out of fullscreen which isn't really a serious problem, its more of a annoyance. especially when flying heli's in dayz/arma and getting thrown out of fullscreen and to my desktop which usually end horribly for me, my team and the heli or when in a firefight in the fps games i play. also i forgot to mention that i have never had this problem before, i just randomly started out of nowhere and there isnt a set time at which it throws me out of fullscreen, it could be every few minutes or a few hours but until it happens i just play my games in fear knowing that at anytime i will be taken out of fullscreen. its kinda scary XD Edited April 1, 2014 by chocolateman327 Quote
Plastic Nev Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Hi, if it is only recently have you tried a system restore to a time previous to this happening? Nev. chocolateman327 Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 my latest restore point is on the 31/03/2014 but sadly i've been having this problem before then and i cant do a system restore because my laptop didn't come with the disk and i checked, it isn't saved on any of my drives Quote
RandyL Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 my latest restore point is on the 31/03/2014 It seems System Restore is turned on. It seems odd that 31/03/2014 is the oldest point unless you recently cleared all but the latest point. Did you click on "Show more restore points" by any chance? chocolateman327 Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 i did click on it and its just that one and the one for win 7 update which is for 2 days ago. the other restore points may be gone because i regularly clean my laptop with Advance system care Quote
chocolateman327 Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 i think i found the problem but that brought up another problem when i go into the startup manager for ASC i see this at the bottom of the list, when i try to delete it i refresh and it reappears. i tried accessing the folder but it isn't there. i also tried deleting the EXE with cmd as admin using DEL /F /Q /A C:\Users\Bryan\AppData\Local\Temp\ Rar $ex 42.664\PCMeterV4\PCMeterV0.4.exe and tried deleting the folder using RD /S /Q C:\Users\Bryan\AppData\Local\Temp\ Rar $ex 42.664\PCMeterV4 but it tells me for both that they don't exist and when i started up system configuration i couldn't find it in the startup tab. im not 100% if this might be causing it but leave no stone unturned right? RandyL Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 What was the solution to your first problem? Is your new question a problem or just something you want to do? Advanced System Care is not something I would ever use on my system. Are you using the Pro version? As you can see regularly deleting system restore points kind of defeats the purpose of system restore. C:\Users\Bryan\AppData\Local\Temp\ Rar $ex 42.664\PCMeterV4\PCMeterV0.4.exe AppData is a hidden folder and the Local/Temp folder inside is easily removed via Windows or a reputable temp cleaning program. Was PCMeterV0.4exe packed inside a Rar file when you downloaded it? Rar files are usually a delivery method via a torrent program. Are you downloading programs via a torrent? Torrenting can be used to infect a computer? Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted April 3, 2014 ExTS Admin Posted April 3, 2014 Advanced System Care is not something I would ever use on my system. Nor would I. These registry cleaners can cause more problems than they cure. Quote Member of:UNITE
