Stokey Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Hi All, I have a bit of a problem and need some help. My aged laptop gave up the ghost recently and I have now managed to re-install XP onto a replacement hard drive but I don't have all of the necessary drivers, especially for the devices that would allow me to access the internet. My works laptop is locked down and won't let me download anything and the iPad that I am using to post this message isn't suitable. I know the PCI / VEN numbers for the 6 devices but don't know where to go / what to do next. Is it possible for someone to e-mail the drivers to me asI could then transfer them from my works laptop using a USB drive. All help and suggestions gratefully received ? Thanks & regards, Mark Quote
KenB Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Hi Mark and welcome to ExTS One solution is to buy a WiFi USB Adapter. click here You would need to make sure that the adapter came with the drivers on a CD. Some suggest that they are "Plug and Play" ...I would suggest that XP may not have the drivers pre-installed. Is this a possibility ? Stokey Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 Thanks Ken, I hadn't thought of that. I was looking for a cheap & cheerful fix as the laptop and XP itself are getting past their best. I'm not sure what the cost is, or if the drivers will come on a CD, something to look at tomorrow. Mark Quote
