Hi guys, I'm fairly new to the pc gaming world after spending all my years on consoles. I recently purchased dayz and arma 3, and although they run okay when it's all set to low (15-20 fps) I want to get more out of it, but haven't got a huge budget. So I'm looking for any help I can get to improve the quality of my game play and play on high settings. Or even medium settings. My pc specs are as followed.

Acer Aspire M5802/M3802

Windows 7

Intel® Core 2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50GHz

6 GB RAM

64 Bit Operating System

ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 series

Many thanks

Dan smith

Hi Dan and welcome to ExTS

I am not a gamer so any advice may well need verifying by one or other of our members who is.

Your RAM is fine.

CPU is reasonable.

Video Card is debatable.

The system specs for arma 3 are here:

http://www.arma3.com/buy#requirements

I would recommend looking at upgrading the Video Card if you can.

The card you have is only OK for the lower settings.

Make sure that you have about 20GB free hard disk space.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

MiniToolBox

Network Test

Hi ken

Thanks for the reply, with the video card what one would I need to buy and is it just a case of swapping them over? As you can probably tell, I'm a complete noob with this sort of stuff.

Many thanks

Hi Dan. Like Ken I am not a Gamer either, however researching for you most gamers say you need an ATI Radeon HD card in the 7 series to perform best.

HTH.

Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.

Thanks for the reply, I will dig around and see what I can find on good old google then. Do you know if they are just a straight swap or do I need a certain one?

The ATI Radeon HD Graphics Cards comes with a Driver CD.

Just swap cards, load the CD and install the drivers.

Also Dan, when you've identified a few possible options have a look in those city centre game exchange shops ... they always have a selection of second hand ones.
