Louise Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Hello I'm in!!! 6th May BT engineering works at our exchange. Since then internet terrible. Keeps coming and going all the time. Think I have it sussed - but then fades, cannot turn on/off - so spasmodic Telephoned AOL 6 times now. On Sat. they told me to do this and do that - cleaning my caches and other bits. Lost all my favourites, passwords. Spent Sat. evening and most of sunday trying to get everything back Asked the chap who made machine - sent him pictures of my screen at each stage of trying to get onto the internet and logging off - but really he said contact AOL. After more and more irate emails from me Now received email from AOL where I have to re-boot, restore but I do not know if I going to loose everything Since the works at the exchange - Internet fades - so that I have a blue circle going round and round When I try and log in. The sign in box and the little man freeze and I have a black circle with a line through it When I am on the internet - everything freezes and I cannot turn off. It says I have two programmes running and not allowing AOL to turn off So I click wait - then after awhile I can close down properly Even trying to get on here - has been quite a job My modem is N150. Had this about 4 to 5 years. BT landline Is restore and re-booting the only way? Oh I was so enjoying have a decent machine Louise Quote
KenB Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Hi Louise ..... I got a PM from Louise1 ...was that you ?? Send me a PM with your complete 11 digit phone number [ not mobile ] ( I promise not to phone you :) ) I have a sister who works for BT. She will be able to check your line to see if it is a BT problem. If it isn't ...we can take it from there. I am not around tomorrow [ Wednesday ] Don't make any changes to your system until we can check this out. Ask your neighbours and see if their internet connection is playing up .....if it is then it looks like a BT problem. If you have a neighbour with AOL even better. Have you tried connecting directly to the router with an ethernet cable ? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
