RustyKnight Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Last week I got a Windows 8.1 convertible laptop, last night I was trying to install some apps, after over an hour they were still sitting there saying "Pending", the ones I downloaded earlier yesterday were fine. Is it a problem with the Store or could it by my computer? Quote [Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Ubuntu MATE, Linux Mint, Chromebook] [several Raspberry Pi running various versions of Raspbian]
seedy21 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Hi Rustyknight I have downloaded a free App from the store today and it worked fine. If you are still having issues it may be worth trying this Search for Troubleshooting Click on Troubleshooting Under System and Security, click on Fix Problems with Windows Update Click on Advanced Click on Run as Administrator Then click Next It managed to fix 2 issues for me and my apps started downloading. Hope that works for you. RustyKnight Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 Thanks for the reply, I've saved it on my tablet as a text file for future reference :) I managed to get the apps to download fine yesterday morning but last night when I wanted to download a game I'd paid for I had problems again - I guess its the time of day, I get the same sort of problems with Xbox games, they take forever to download at certain times of day. Plastic Nev Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Hi, what type of connection do you have for the internet? It sounds a lot like ADSL over the ordinary telephone line, this system is horrendously overloaded most evenings after schools have finished, so that download speeds are at a crawl during that time. The files you are wanting to download are possibly quite large, so with slower speeds in the evening you will see these problems. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? RustyKnight Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 Seedy's suggestions seems to have worked. I managed to download some, I even downloaded Disney Infinity which is over 1Gb and took forever, then got deleted because I didn't like it! At the moment we have ADSL but hopefully next month we'll be changing to fibre optic which should be faster and hopefully more reliable.
