Guitarman Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Basically I made an awful mistake by stopping an installer half way through installing which meant many of the files were installed but not all. The uninstall program was also not installed... This meant I couldn't uninstall through control panel. To try to quickly right my wrong I decided to filter the files of the program and delete them all... I then used regedit to remove all registry entries also... Ran the installer again and now I get an error telling me that there is an old version installed and that it can't remove it so I have to remove it before I can install this version. It's been driving me insane for three days now and I can't seem to find a way to completely remove it! If you guys know any way I can do this I would be so grateful! Also I have deleted all temporary files and done a disk clean-up just to make sure no files were left behind. I don't know what else I can do :( Thanks, Guitarman Quote
DSTM Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Hi. I use a program called "everything" to find every entry of a program I wish to delete. What program were you trying to install as some have separate uninstall tools? Just type what program it is and highlight entries and choose delete. I normally select about 6 at a time and delete. See how you go. http://www.voidtools.com/ Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
RandyL Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Try a System Restore. Depending on the settings you used for the disk clean-up you might only have one restore point which would be the latest one. Hopefully you have a restore point to before you ran the installer. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else.
