Jim95 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Hello All Can anybodsy suggest a solution to this Computer Problem I recently built a computer and installed Windows 7(Home) 64 BIT . The motherboard is an Asus A88XM Everything works perfectly except that downbloads are extremely slow and never complete- They usually stop at about the 70% mark For example I am unable to install Yahoo Messenger , Skype and of course my Antivirus KaperskiI had the line checked by my ISP (Virgin Mdia) and the computer checked by a local expert . All the drivers are correctly installed . My internet speed is currently 3.5Mbps approximately All the hardware I installed from CDs works perfectly like my printer , scanner and webcam I can access the MSN Homepage with no trouble and have managed to install Windows Live Mail , but I never use it as its terribly slow , I have sent and received test e mails , but they are slowI had some problems with setting up the BIOS Kind Regards Jim Quote
Plastic Nev Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. Is there any chance you can try a different computer on the internet connection? If the other computer behaves the same but is OK elsewhere, then it must be the line or router, if on the other hand another computer works OK with a fast speed, then it must be your computer. Lets try to identify which it is first. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. KenB Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Hi Jim and welcome to ExTS Please don't mix up font sizes and styles it is really awkward to read :) In addition to Nev's suggestion: Try running on just one RAM module. If you get the same problem - swap them over. This is an outside chance - but worth a try. Run a speed test using this link. click here Let us know the results. I assume that you have no AV on your system at the moment ? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
