porterman Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 My daughter has a new laptop running 8.1, her old one which has some faults runs 7. She only wants to transfer her music (23Gb) and some photos (no more than 8Gb I think). I say she has to use the Windows easy transfer software to do this but she thinks she can just put it all on a flash drive and dowload it straight onto her new laptop. Is she right? I don't think so as what would anyone need the WET for in the first place. Can some one please clarify this. Quote
KenB Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Hi and welcome to ExTS Transferring photos and music can be done as your daughter suggests. The flash drive may, depending upon its size, get full when copying the music across. All she would need to do in this case is copy it in stages. Once a full flash drive contents has been copied to the new machine simply delete the flash drive content and copy some more. She could create a new file(s) on the Win8 desktop so that it is easy to locate and transfer the photos / music to them. Plastic Nev Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 If I can add, she is possibly better off and quicker doing it with a flash drive as the so called easy transfer can take ages to work, sometimes.
