techphoberesol Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Hello guys, i just attempted to post an introduction and got timed out, so without wishing to seem rude, i'll get to why i'm here. I just started using a cheap digital camera, having figured out how to store them on my computer, i'd like to share some photos with friends in an online forum and i don't know how. I get as far as opening a photo to "paint", btw i'm using windows7 home premium, and in my 60s so go easy eh? I size the photo to how i'd like to post it, and there it sits. Can't use it, move it, cut and paste, send, nothing. There must BE a way but how? So far, all i've managed to do is post a jpg number. I DO intend to checkout the FAQs some time. techphobe. Quote
techphoberesol Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 I don't know where else to go, who to ask, i really want this. HELP? Quote
Plastic Nev Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Hi Techphobe, and a welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. I will write up a complete tutorial for you a little later today, as I see we actually don't have a tutorial on the subject of posting pictures and photographs on to forums, such as this one and also other sites. I see also you require help in what to do with photographs and putting them on to your computer, resizing them, and a few other things you need to know. All of that will be covered as I will aim it at people like yourself who are new to computers and a true novice. Give me an hour or two. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? techphoberesol Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Nev, you just made my day. My impression of W7 is that i should be be able to store, save, use, and share photos. I'm not that good with ict, but i enjoy the chat that it allows, if you can help out here i would be so grateful. Please don't ask me to download stuff, i won't go there. Quote
Plastic Nev Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Hi again, you won't need to download anything. Upload it, yes, and also you may, in fact better still, will need to register and become a member of a photo and image storing site. That is just so that you are aware of what you do need to do. I will be mentioning that some forums, (Not all) do have facilities to upload attachments such as photo's as this site does, and how to at least use that facility here on Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. Can you tell me please what the forum is that you wish to post pictures on? Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. techphoberesol Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Oh dear, it's goodbye, i'm sorry. All i wanted to do was share photos. I just want to store in my w7 package and post in a forum. I know i'm old and stupid but how is that not possible? Thanks for offering. I'm sorry you were unable to help, techphobe. Quote
Plastic Nev Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 It is not possible to share pictures to any forum without uploading them to either a photo hosting site, or uploading them to the forums own system, photo's are not anything like just typing words, like these I am typing now. In actual fact even these words are uploaded to the forum when I click the "Post Reply" button, everything sent from your computer is an upload. Sorry if you feel that uploading pictures is too difficult, as in reality it is a very simple process, and every photo you see any where on the net, in any forum, has had to be uploaded by the person who posted them. DSTM Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I don't know where else to go, who to ask, i really want this. HELP? Hi. What your trying to do is very simple and Nev is giving you good advice. It is not complicated. Nev offered the write a step by step guide. Not many forums would do that off the cuff. If you listen to Nev you will be uploading photos in no time. techphoberesol Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Maybe i chose the wrong path, took a wrong turn, and i'm so sorry for having wasted your time. REALLY, i'm sorry. So sorry. I wish i was computer orientated but i'm not. Quote
KenB Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Maybe i chose the wrong path, took a wrong turn, and i'm so sorry for having wasted your time. I don't understand ??? You came here for help - and it looks as if you have panicked at the first hurdle. You say you are in your 60s. Those of us who have posted in this thread to try to help are also in our 60s :) I am not sure what is scaring you off - but if you really want to post a photo on a website then it is a relatively simple operation and Nev will guide you through it. If you are unsure of any stage - simple ask. If you are still wanting to jump ship - no hard feelings. Plastic Nev Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 If you wish to learn more about computers and how to use them yet do so with real people guiding you rather than this way here, have a look round your local area and see if any colleges or voluntary organisations are running computer help courses. Believe me, you won't get very far if being afraid of every simple task on the internet. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. techphoberesol Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 Ken, you may be in your 60s but how long have you been computer-literate? At 60 i'm a relative newbie and yes, i'm scared. Nev, i'm truly sorry, i wasn't prepared for an offer of help, and i need to build myself up for an attempt to achieve the goal. I am of such a mentality that i would fully expect to fail and i have to get myself ready for that. Btw, i actually paid for a tutor to visit my house, it didn't work out. It's not a computer problem as such, this guy didn't seem to have much idea of forums and posting pics. At the moment, i am able to post my pics in one forum then c+p to where i WANT to post them, but they're passport photo size. I can't apologise enough for having wasted your time, i'm sorry. I'm just not ready for this right now. Quote
KenB Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Hi, I can't apologise enough for having wasted your time, i'm sorry. Please don't apologise ....we understand your anxiety. i am able to post my pics in one forum then c+p to where i WANT to post them So - you are not as incompetent as you paint yourself :) but they're passport photo size. This may not be your fault - it could be the forum itself re-sizing any photos posted. We have limits here too - not this small I grant you - but we do have limits. We are only trying to help. Nobody here will judge you - nobody here will be laughing at your expense. We all started knowing very little too. If you are happy to post the website we could check it out for you and maybe come up with a solution .....if there is one. Btw, i actually paid for a tutor You can ask as many questions as you like here - and it is all totally free. We have limitless patience too :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
Plastic Nev Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Indeed, as Ken said, we do have patience and we do this voluntarily as we enjoy helping others. As Ken also asked, if you can tell us the forum you wish to post these pictures on, it will be a help to us so we can help better. I am still here and will help you through anything you wish, and without leading you into anything that could be dangerous or cause damage. I also started out knowing nothing at all when I bought my first computer, and not all that long since as it was in 2004. I know how much of a concern it is to not want to do anything that might mess it up, I was there once. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. techphoberesol Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Not wanting to seem ungrateful, i shall almost certainly revisit you guys, if that's okay. But i seem to have lost heart. I might be a while. techphobe Quote
KenB Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 i shall almost certainly revisit you guys, if that's okay. No problem at all. Most people in your shoes think they will do serious damage if they get things wrong. This is rarely the case. If you have another question - or even if you want to carry on with this one - we will take it in small steps :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
