jimmyedwards Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Hi to all, Windows 8.1 popup comes up when ever I start my pc, I always click to remind me later. Now my grandson has clicked to install I immediately shut the pc down to stop it. On restart it showed finishing installing windows 8.1,I don't want 8.1 on my pc as I have heard bad things about it. Can anyone tell me how to uninstall it, thanks. Quote
KenB Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Hi If 8.1 has been installed then there is no way back. It is not possible to use System Restore etc. If you have Win 8 on a disk then you could use this. If this has happened recently you shouldn't have any problems with 8.1. I waited a long time before I upgraded from 8.0 to 8.1 for the same reasons that you are expressing. I have had no problems at all with 8.1 Initially there were problems - I think M$ have sorted those now. Is the system running OK ? Starbuck Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I haven't had any issues with Win8.1 at all. Now it's on your system you may as well give it a go. Quote Member of:UNITE
wellies Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 It is always possible to read about upgrades that have gone wrong and about faults on operating systems. As your own experience has perhaps shown though, the upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1 goes without problems for the majority of people. Also, it's generally reckoned that Windows 8.1 is an improvement on Windows 8 (I think it is). If your upgrade has gone OK and the system is running well, it could be best to keep Windows 8.1. If nothing untoward arises over the next week or two, thank your Grandson for the accidental upgrade. :) Windows 8.1 has been thoroughly stable for me. Quote Need help with your computer problems?
