Hi George

That card certainly is short - is it too wide to fit through the slots that are showing?

I can't see - I assume that one of these slots aligns with the PCIe x 16 slot on the motherboard ?

Hi George

Two options:

Return the card unused for a refund

Use it - and there will be a gap .which is not detrimental ( not sure how secure the card will be )

I wasn't aware that video cards with that DMS59 socket had a different ( shorter ) backplate. ( sorry :( )

If you decide to install it - will it be secure ?

Hi George

I have been doing a bit of reading ....

Some low profile cards come with a short backplate. Some have the full-size backplate.

Apparently the backplate can be removed and replaced with the full size one.

The card that you posted in post #15 has the full width backplate and comes with an adapter for dual VGA monitors.

( Some cards come with both backplates )

This video explains -

If you were happy with the card in post #15 - it looks as if it will do the job.

Let me know if I can help further.

Hi George,

Looks to me that the two hollow nuts either side of the socket should unscrew, then the plate will come off. I can't see anything else that holds the plate in place. However without the full sized plate to replace it, unless you can make one if good with metal working, there isn't much point. :D

Exactly that :)

Nice of them to let you keep the card.

If you still have the card - install it anyway ( just to test ) and connect up the two monitors.

If it works as we hope - then you can get a more suitable card ....if there are problems then nothing lost :)

Hi George,

please answer Nev's suggestion first :)

Then -

If you still have the card - install it anyway ( just to test ) and connect up the two monitors.

If it works as we hope - then you can get a more suitable card ....if there are problems then nothing lost

This is worth trying - just to make sure.

Also ...

Take a look at the PCIe x 16 slot ...

Is it to the far right of where the screw holds the video card in place ?

( as this card suggests )

Sorry George - when you said this ( below ) I assumed that the card fitted.

Keep us posted.

Hi George, I assume it won't fit due to the short metal bracket, if you undo those two nuts I mentioned earlier and remove that bracket, just check and see if it will then plug into the PCIe slot, and then see if it will work.

You will need the correct plug or adapter to use that socket on the card though.

The card wont fit ive taken the bracket off but the slots in the card dont align with the slots on my motherboard i have taken photos but not sure if you would be able to make it out

Hi George, If you can show us a picture of the connection edge and slots it would help.

If the slots don't fit anyway, it is possibly not a PCIe and only a PCI card, the slots on your motherboard from the spec I looked up are definitely the later PCIe, which is quite a big difference from the older PCI type. The cut out is in a much different place.

Hi George / Nev

According to these specs the system has one PCIe x 16 slot.

I am assuming the card is PCIe x 16

Can you post the Make and model number of the short-bracket card George please ?

Thanks George, that explains why it won't fit, it is indeed only a PCI card, the little letter "e" at the end makes a big difference.

When you next look for one, make sure that "e" is there as in PCIe.
