Hi,

Ive had this problem for a while now. The printer (lexmark x2670) worked perfectly for months but then for some reason stopped/froze mid way through a print. Sometimes it wont print at all until i restart the pc then as soon as it reboots it starts to print. I can then attemp to print something else straight after and it stops again. im sick of restarting every time i try to do any work. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling the softwear (downloaded from lexmark website) but its still stopping.

Any advice/ideas/help appreciated.

Matt.

Hi, Printers can get buggy, and usually more mechanical than the software, so providing you have as you say installed the latest drivers, I doubt that is the problem now.

My first thoughts after that though is the USB cable, have you tried changing that? It may just be a poor connection causing the stall during a print.

Hi Matt,

While waiting for a more informed answer ....

I've had a similar problem with my HP R45 3 in 1 printer for sometime. The only difference being mine doesn't stop in mid-print, but like yours, sometimes refuses to begin a new job until the PC is restarted ... at which point it starts automatically, unless I go into Control Panel > Printers and cancel the pending print work.

One thing you might try is to remove the Lexmark software altogether and try without it ... my machine doesn't have the HP software installed and the problem seems to occur less for it. You might also try the software from a similar but different machine.

Edit ... Sorry Nev, I was typing at the same time.
