Good Evening all

Following a lightening strike nearby my new Sky Router fried its internals. Prior to the lightening all devices android phone, tablet, xbox, PS3, internet tv all connected faultlessly and wireleslly!

A week later and 2 days on phone to Sky Customer Care - laptop connected via Ethernet to set up router - I disabled wifi security, no other device will connect. Enabled security WPA - PSK - no other device will connect yes I entered the password key

Laptop will connect via wireless.

Android phones picks up the wifi signal from router but when I press connect, the phone says getting IP address..... then avoided poor internet connection...

Where do I go from here?

xBOX laughs and says no!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi

Could MAC Address Filtering be enabled in the router settings ?

To check ..

Open Internet Explorer ( as if you were using the internet )

In the Address Bar at the top where http:/www.******* ..... is - delete all that is there and type 192.168.0.1 ....hit ENTER

Mine is 192.168.1.1 try this if 192.168.0.1 doesn't get you there.

You may be asked for login details.

From what I can find it is Admin ..........and Sky for the password.

This may help - click here

"Turn Access Control On" is what you are looking for.

You need to turn this off.

Each computer and device that can access your network has its own MAC Address. If Access Control is "On" they will not be able to access the network.

You can turn this on for added security later and manually add the MAC address for each machine.

Android phonespicks up the wifi signal

If you stand right next to the router will it connect ?

If you go back into the router settings and disable WPA - PSK option - will the other devices connect now ?

If they do - if you use WEP instead ....are you able to connect now ?

Do you have a "Connect" button on your router - if so have you tried this ?

I think I have found what caused the lack of connectivity - when my long ethernet cable to my PS3 and TV is connected the router refuses to allow any wireless connections, but when removed it allows connections wirelessly. bizarre! Now to resolve the PS 3 and tv connection !!!
