I bought a DVD that locked up my computer so tried it in my wife's computer and it locked that up as well. I got a replacement that would not play in mine but would in my wife's and in both TVs.

The software that played the dvd on my wife's computer was windows media. We both have W7 64bit OS. Since putting Wmedia player back onto mine it still will not play the DVD. I have defaulted all dvd and cd to use Wmedia player.

Thinking it might be an update of some sort I tried that only to find it would not allow me online so a restore was used to correct that.

In device manager it said teredle tunnel device was missing and #2 an #3 had drivers missing (yellow asterix)

Ethernet controller had a missing driver as did the USB thingy and the MS virtual mini port.

These drivers must have been missing for a long time but it has still operated online fine.

The drivers cannot be found by the system online.

Hi Jim

What is the make and model number of your computer please ?

Hmmm, I do not seem to have this anywhere. I bought it from Amazon about 12 months ago. The OS is W7 64bit. build 7601.

Belarc advisor says the system model is Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd GA-78LMT-USB3

Bus Clock:200 Megahertz

BIOS:Award \software International, Inc.FA 04/23/2013

It has 7662 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory.

What else do you need ? I have Belarc Advsor and Speccy that can help me.

Hi Jim,

Considering you already have Speccy installed, have a read of this,

http://www.piriform.com/support/speccy#21111316

Go for option "2 File > Publish snapshot" and post the resultant URL address in your next post, that will tell us quite a lot which will help in finding drivers eventually.

Hi Jim

I was asking if it is Dell / Acer / HP ................. and the model number.

It is usually on a sticker on the case :)

You can probably get the missing drivers from the manufacturer's website.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

I don't know the manufacturer but I do know it's not Dell. I tried looking up the purchase on Amazon but it was twelve months ago and the records must have been deleted because of age. The video is acer but the rest I do not know or I would have looked up the manufacturers for updated drivers.

When I tried to update the drivers via Device Manager it said that an update could not be found. If I used troubleshooter it said I had the best drivers already......very confusing.

Hi Jim,

From the Speccy results it does show the full motherboard model being a Gigabyte one, you should be able to download all the relevant motherboard drivers from here :

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305#dl

If any other drivers are missing, can you let us know exactly which ones and as much detail as possible please.

Hi Jim

Start > right click on "Computer" [ This PC if it is Win 8 ] > Properties

It should tell you there.

This is a windows 7 64 bit machine. I don't know how to get that info from this machine.

I have managed to get rid of the yellow asterix for the Ethernet driver on the site Nev mentioned but was unsuccessful with the USB. I don't know why? I got the same as before....cannot find the driver, go to the manufacturers site.

Hi Jim, follow what Ken asked click on the start, then a right click on "computer", and then click "properties", you should get this window opens, as in my case it tells me it is a Packard Bell Imedia.

I am getting a message that says this post is too long when I try to paste a print-screen as you have above. Try a cropped version. I am sorry for the slow-to-grasp new stuff at this end. This software is obviously written by one much younger than I.

Hi Jim, if that is all there is with no manufacturer, it must have been a home build by someone before you bought it. With it being a Gigabyte motherboard, not really surprising.

However, on the Gigabyte site drivers listing did you try the one lower down the list marked as "Eltron USB 3.0 Driver?

Have you also tried the one higher up marked as AMD Chipset driver?

Ideally the chipset should really be the first to install, and do the others next.

Thanks for coming back to me gents, it's very kind and patient of you all.

I bought it from Amazon and one of you had the same 'puter and said it was ok. Perhaps it was an individual business man.

However, on the Gigabyte site drivers listing did you try the one lower down the list marked as "Eltron USB 3.0 Driver?

Yes, I did try that with no effect. Computers never cease to surprise.....

Have you also tried the one higher up marked as AMD Chipset driver?

No, I assumed all was ok with that one as it had no yellow asterix.I have downloaded it now, should I try installing it? Also should I delete/disable old drivers before installing new?

Hi Jim. I would reinstall all the chipset drivers you need for that Motherboard.

No need to uninstall the old drivers.

Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.

Ok I have done that in that I have downloaded every driver for W7 update on that site. It has not worked and the yellow asterix stills show in Device Manager against the aforementioned. It looks like it has failed again.

Hi Jim

Any chance of a Screen Shot of Device Manager ?

open D-Manager to the point where the yellow exclamation marks are and then press PrtSc button on the top row of your keyboard.

Open Paint [ It is in Start > All Progs >Accessories ]

Paste the screen shot in ( CTRL + V )

File > Save As ( select JPG extension ) > give it a name > Save to Desktop

On here click reply > then click "Go Advanced" > click on "Manage Attachments" [ under the text box ...scroll down a bit ]

Add Files > Select the JPG file from the Desktop > Open

Bit long winded but at least we should be able to see what you are :)

Hi Jim

Thanks for the photo :)

Teredo Tunnelling is a method of having ipV4 and ipV6 communicate.

It looks like it needs installing.

Take a look here - click here

This explains far better than I can.

If you end up at the Registry Fix and need further explanation ......just ask :)

If you are not using ipV6 then we can disable ipV6 and the Toredo Tunnelling ....the problem should then disappear.

I assume that your wireless and LAN ( wired ) connections are OK ?

It looks like you have a USB problem too.

Are the USB ports working ?

Thanks for writing all that out for me Ken and I got to the registry fine.

When I got to 'disabled components' and right clicked on it I did not get the 'edit' option, but I did get a 'modify'. I thought I'd better check this as I realize how fundamental the registry is to the correct functioning of the computer. Also I did not get a DWord of any value, I got a small window box that had an S and a 0 (zero) I think in it.

So I come out of there without altering anything.

Hi Jim

I have my doubts that ipV6 is needed on your machine - better to leave the Registry alone until we actually need to make changes.

Lets check first to see if ipV6 is enabled.

run this - click here

If it is "Supported" we can look at disabling it. [ ipV4 is what we DO need enabled at this point in time. ]

If it is "Supported" i.e. enabled then take a took here and uncheck it - see the image in step #3

[ TCP/IPv6 needs to be unchecked - then click on OK ]

I agree and it is not enabled/supported.

Let's try disabling Teredo Tunnelling

Start > type in .....cmd ..... ( don't hit ENTER yet ) ....right click on the cmd.exe that will appear top left of screen

Click on "Run as Administrator"

At the command prompt type ........ netsh interface teredo set state disabled .....ENTER

It may need a re-boot.

Go back to Device Manager and see if the teredo tunnelling entries are still there.

Also ..

You didn't answer my last question re. Wireless and LAN ( wired ) connections.

Are they OK ?

"Run as Administrator"

Yes they are fine and I'm on the computer typing this. It is a wireless set-up. The router is also shared with my wife's Dell in another room and an I-pad that is away under warranty for repair.
