Hi KenB. Apologies for posting here - i couldnt see how to start a new thread.

I have a issue with unwanted stuff on my PC. My husband was trying to view a movie clip - on facebook - and was prompted to update his flashplayer. He clicked through and was asked if he wanted to install flash. Rather than saying no this site looks dodgy - he installed flash. I can no longer access the internet - but can access the Firefox search page. If i try and search for anything is just reloads that page.

I think the thing he downloaded was from flash.*****ing.com - i have done or the normal stuff of scanning for viruses and doing a reset to an earlier time. Nothing works.

Help!!!!!

web address altered by KenB - just in case other members are tempted to try it :)

Hi and welcome to ExTS :)

I have moved your post to this forum - it is probably best to have your own thread.

Can you boot up in Safe Mode with Networking ? [ using the problem machine ]

Switch on and constantly tap F8 about once per second.

You should be taken to the Advanced Startup Options - select Safe Mode with Networking from here.

The graphics will look odd - but this will correct itself when you boot up normally.

See if you can get on line this way.

If you can ....

Download Malwarebytes and run it as described here: click here

There is no need to run the other option ( step 2 ) yet.

If you cannot access the internet this way post back and we will take it from there :)

It may be necessary to move this thread again - to the Malware Removal Forum - I will let you know if this is necessary.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Sounds like the malware has added a proxy.

After running MBAM as suggested by KenB, please run this: (it will remove any proxy that may be on the system and will tell us of any other internet problems).

Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your Desktop.

Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click and select "Run as Administrator".

Checkmark following radio buttons:

  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Devices (Only Problems)
  • List Users, partition and memory size.

Click Go the results will appear as a txt file on your Desktop.

Please copy & paste this report in your next reply.
