mij Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Hello Nev and thanks for answering the post. SWMBO says she went for one costing £69.99, I presume it was like the one portrayed on this page. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H09BB16/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=479289247&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B002DUCMT2&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=0BNZCGTYCTW42414F4QD I hope that that is sufficient. Plastic Nev Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Hi Jim, That actually is fine as it is a full OEM Windows 7 home premium and looks to be a brand new one. I just wish she hadn't gone off and bought it as there really was no need, KenB in an earlier post mentioned it. However the disk is there now so it might as well be used. To save me some typing, Brink has done it for us, have a look here, Clean install Windows 7 You may have to access the BIOS and make sure the DVD/CD drive is set to first boot priority. See how you go and if any problems, let us know. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. I am not convinced that the ISO version that we can link to would be validated after installation as Jim's better half had an upgrade version of Win7 and not an OEM version. It would have been worth a try though. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test

It would have been worth a try though. It was a student version that her grandson got last year for his teacher training course. He used it to upgrade her Dell Studio One from Vista. SWMBO was trying to get rid of the proggies that grandson used. She went too far and was ready to have a clean install :D. by plastic Nev:- To save me some typing, Brink has done it for us, have a look Brink advises saving drivers. How are these identified and located please? I can save these to USB type memory stick. Jim Quote
mij Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 The new W7 disk arrived from Amazon with this mornings post. I followed Brink's instructions with the exception of saving the drivers and it went very smoothly indeed. SWMBO is pleased and now knows that she is not ALWAYS correct :). Fancy trying to put the whole of windows in the recycle bin - when ever I've tried something like that I get dire warnings and it wont allow it.....it was when it was still chuntering away at 2Gb that she stopped the process she tells me this morning. Thanks for the link to Brink's site and your patience. This has now been solved. jim Quote
Plastic Nev Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 That's sounding good Jim, any problems with the drivers? Give us a shout if there are as sometimes Windows itself might not have them. Usually for specific devices such as sound or wifi devices. Otherwise glad to know all is OK and went well. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help.
