bj43cj47 Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Hello all. A straight forward question. My email provider is Hotmail.com, must I have Javascript enabled because Hotmail requires it. Various people say to remove it completely from my laptop as it can slow it down & is not required. I'm forever getting popups during browsing saying I need to update Java from something called America Oracle. Not too technical an answer please! Thanks Quote
KenB Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Hi, must I have Javascript enabled because Hotmail requires it. In a word - yes. You will find that some websites require it too. It is a form of programming language - if Hotmail, for instance, has used it then, if you haven't got it, Hotmail will not be able to function properly on your machine. Java is not Javascript. One of the security guys will give you better info re Java ...basically if you have it on your system you should keep it up to date for security reasons. I hope this helps a little ?
