My Dell laptop mother board failed so I decided to scrap it. The HDD is OK. How can I transfer Office to another PC when it has been registered on the failed machine?

If you have the installation disk and original product code then you should simply be able to install in the usual way.

 

If the activation gets rejected a call to Microsoft should sort it.

They will allocate a new product code.

Hi, if however you do not have the original installation disk, unfortunately although data, music, pictures, video, etc can be transferred to another computer, installed programs cannot.

 

However, you can try connecting the hard drive to another computer, hopefully of the similar operating system.

 

If you search the connected (As external) hard drive for the desktop folder, then click or double click the office icon, it may launch and run from the now external hard drive.

if it will run, it may be a little slower in operation.

I have found some programs will run off an externally connected drive so you may be lucky with it.

 

If however it doesn't show up on the desktop folder, you won't be able to run it so you will need to install from the original disk.

Office installed straight from the disc using the product key. I expected to have to uninstal and advise MS that the software was no longer in use and then they would allow me to use it again on another machine. Thanks for your help.

I think you can install it 3 times before it is flagged up at M$ :)
