Lois Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Bought a laptop Compaq nc 6220 with problems. It is not loaded. Writes, " no disc or disc error". I can not enter the BIOS by conventional methods. I carried her laptop in the studio, the master checked the hard drive, and said that he was okay. He was able to go into the Bios, somehow complicated method. I asked the experts, no one knows how to do it. Ask for advice - how do I enter the Bios?He sat battery Bios. Quote
KenB Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 the master checked the hard drive, and said that he was okay. How was this done? I can not enter the BIOS by conventional methods. F10 is the usual method with this machine. no disc or disc error If you can get into the BIOS check the Boot Order and make sure the HDD is first in the Boot Order Make sure there is no disk in the DVD Drive. Lois Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 How was this done? He unscrewed the hard disk and carried it to the test. As he checked, I did not see. I think he connected it to another computer. F10 is the usual method with this machine. This method does not work. If you can get into the BIOS check the Boot Order and make sure the HDD is first in the Boot Order Make sure there is no disk in the DVD Drive. There is no disc. What is important - from the serious masters have very deep secrets that they do not open is not an initiate. When the wizard worked on the keyboard to enter the Bios, it seemed to me that he was doing it in secret. He did not want me to know that. This is my opinion. The problem is, how do you know the secret? Quote
KenB Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 The usual methods of getting into the BIOS are F10 / F2 / DEL keys. Switch on and constantly tap the selected key about once per second. This should get you into the BIOS. Failing this - take the CMOS battery out [ or use the jumper on the motherboard if there is one ] for 30 seconds. Replace. This will reset the BIOS to defaults. Try F10 [ F2 / DEL ] again. The problem is, how do you know the secret? Lois Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 I was able to go into the Bios. I need to set the date and time, but I do not see in the Bios of this opportunity. Here photo Quote
KenB Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I need to set the date and time, You do this from the desktop. Click on the date ( bottom right corner of screen ) > Change Date and Time Settings If your date and time are not correct - or they change again after you correct them it is probably the CMOS battery that needs changing. Plastic Nev Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Hi Lois, can you please explain exactly what you want to do, and what is wrong. From you first post I think you mean it will not boot into an operating system, can you confirm that please? You explained that a tutor at college has confirmed that the hard drive itself is OK, however there may not be a working operating system on it, we don't know this as yet. I know there may be a language problem for you with English, so please take your time and tell us as much as you can, so we can then understand what you need. Nev.
