mtav Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I had used Firefox satisfactorily on my pc for several years, but now it repeatedly opens new unwanted blank tabs at a great rate and is completely unusable. After uninstalling and re-installing, it was no better. Also, any pdf document now opens in Firefox, again with repeating tabs, so I have no means of viewing a pdf except on my tablet. I think these two problems must be relatted. The only way out in either case is to switch the computer off and re-boot. Can you help me? Quote

Right click a pdf document and select "Open with" then change the default program. I don't know what is causing the repeating tabs but it might be a virus. mtav did you donate while not logged in? Something to try : Open IE click Tools>Internet options>Connections>LAN settings If "Use a Proxy Server .." is checked ......uncheck it. Click OK If it is already checked .... and "Automatically Detect Settings" is checked .....uncheck this .....click OK If no change - go back and put a check against "Automatically Detect Settings" If it is still a problem download Malwarebytes from here - click here You want the FREE version Read each page as you install - there may be some additional stuff that you will not want. [ I have not installed MBAM for some time now - so not sure :) ] Please read this from Starbuck - click here Just the bit related to MBAM for the moment. A log will be produced. If the box was checked then all pdf files will open correctly. You do not need to donate again. Your donation went through. I only saw an ip address instead of a name because you were not logged in.
