Hi and welcome to ExTS

I have deleted your other post as it was exactly the same as this one ....no need to post twice :)

As a work-around ....do you have a USB keyboard that you can try ?

If you boot up in Safe Mode ....does your keyboard work then ?

Switch on and constantly tap F8 about once per second [ this doesn't work with Win 8 ]

Select Safe Mode from the list of options.

Hi,

I was not sure which category to post unnder.

No, the keyboard does not work in safe mode either. It does however worrk when I presss the f8 key, return etc to actiivate the safe mode.

The on screen keyboard always pops up when I enter safe mode or the desktop normal. It is llike once I enter the keyboard is deactivated.

Most frustrating.

PS2 keyboard ??

This is the old - round socket type that plugs into the back of a desktop machine for instance.

It is external - not an integrated laptop keyboard

Try this first:

Switch off.

Unplug the mains adapter.

Take the battery out.

Hold the On / Off button in for 30 seconds.

Replace the battery and mains adapter ( if you normally have this connected )

Boot up and test keyboard.

==================

If the above doesn't help .......

Right click on the device [ in device manager ] > uninstall.

Re-boot the machine. Windows should find the device and install the drivers for it.
