Xolono Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Recently I've been having problems with my Laptop (Windows 8) in which the built-in monitor isn't working, I know this can connect the laptop via HDMI to my tv and run games (TF2, Gmod etc). As i'm not good at typing up stuff watch the video i have provided [video=youtube;YE-Mb5cnPLQ]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE-Mb5cnPLQ Quote
KenB Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Hi and welcome to ExTS :) The video helps - thanks. If you move the screen backwards and forwards [ half closed to open beyond vertical ] quite a few times ...do you get any change on the screen at all ? If you look closely at the screen .... can you see any feint graphics in the background ? Thanks for replying 1.) I used to get something, in which imagine static on a tv screen expect in small lines <--- used to get that now nothing 2.) Nope the screen is black apart from the front or bacck light (Dunno which) Quote
KenB Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I don't think there is a quick solution to this. If you could see feint graphics then I would suggest the backlight or inverter. This appears not to be the case. As you say ... I don't think it is a video card problem - I tend to agree with you ..... I suspect a connection problem. You say that you used to get small lines on screen .... then nothing. The cable that runs from the motherboard to the screen usually goes through the hinge. Sometimes this can wear and fray. The lines could be the result of some data getting through .... now he cable has gone worse .... so no data at all. I suggest that you ask a local tech to take a look at it .... and ask how much he is going to charge to a. say what he thinks is wrong b. repair the problem A small business normally gives better service than the pc Worlds etc Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! KenB Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Sorry we couldn't be of more help - but I think you had a good idea what the problem may be. It isn't certain that the problem is as I described ....but it is a common fault. A decent tech should look at it for nothing and give you the benefit of an opinion.
