Hi

Re the drivers:

If the Vid Card doesn't come with drivers on a disk then you can download them from the manufacturer's site.

If you are running XP still - your motherboard may not have PCIe x 16 slot. It depends how old it is.

If you are unsure - let us know and we can direct you to some software that will tell you.

PCIe x16 is the slot for most newer cards.

Depending on what card you select - you may need to upgrade the Power Supply Unit.

It depends what you have as a PSU at the moment.

If you post the make and model number of the card we can give you a bit more info on the PSU needed and and PCI power connections needed.

The drivers available are here:

http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/drivers/

XP and Vista.

It could be that they are embedded in Win7

It could be that the Vista ones will work OK

We need a bit more research.

EDIT

The details are here - click here

This is a PCIe x 1 card .... says it is compatible with all PCIe slots.

Also says Win 7 drivers are on line ...but I still end up with XP and Vista. ???

Hi George, I understand this is a computer you have just bought. Can you tell us the make and model of it please so we can be sure exactly what card will fit, or if you wish to run a certain card we can find out what may be required as extra, such things as power supply upgrade or where available converting connectors etc.

If not sure of make or model, or even if you do know, this will be of great help to us, please download and install Speccy on the new computer if you don't already have it installed, then open it.

This is a direct download link, the download should start straight away.

http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download/standard

Once you have opened it, wait while it gathers the information, only a few seconds, then click "File" on top left, and select "Publish snapshot" that will give you a URL link, copy and paste that into your next reply please. (The computer must be connected to the internet for that to work)

Nev.

The card i need is a PCI not PCI-E i am on windows-7 now not xp

If your system is Win7 then the motherboard slots should be PCIe ...............PCI is older technology.

[ unless Win7 was an upgrade onto an older system ]

This is the PCI version - click here

This is from the Matrox website:

Drivers for Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows Server 2003, Windows-XP X64 (64-bit) and Windows Vista XDDM available online. For other possible operating-systems, contact Matrox.

There is also an AGP version of this card. [ different slot again ]

Post the Speccy analysis and we can take a look.
