TrevWhatmore Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 My Toshiba NB550D netbook runs Windows 7 Starter always seems to be busy doing things I haven't asked it to do! For most of the time the HDD light is on solid, consequently the netbook is very slow to respond particularly just after startup. I have tried to keep it clean buy running my McAfee scan regularly and other programs recommended by the PC magazines. Task manager 'processes' rarely show programs running at more than a a few percent CPU capacity but 'CPU performance' is peaking at 99%. While this is happening, the only program running is Internet Explorer. Can anyone tell me what they think is happening and how I can resolve this nuisence? Quote
Ray1000 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Hi Trev, While waiting for a more informed answer type msconfig in the bottom left windows icon search box and have a look how many entries are in "Start Up" Mine has one entry ... for Anti Virus ... you can remove all the rest. let us know how you go on.
