I am nt sure if it is an error of my laptop, or if steam hates me, but I can play Counter Strike Source, Gmod etc (source engine games) but all the older games (cs 1.6, Day of Defeat etc.) dont run and they immediately shut down shortly after opening it (before it has fully loaded). There are no error messages but it just doesn't work.

What laptop do you have and what operating system do you have? If you can give as much details as possible it will be easier to pinpiont the problem.

I have a clevo laptop.

 

3.2 GHz processor (single)

1 GB RAM

256mb dedicated graphics card (ATi mobility radeon)

After it closes down press cntrl+shift+esc and see if it is running in the background. look under applications and processes.

I would go to the laptop's site and download the latest driver for the video card.

 

Follow the instructions for the installation, as most video card drivers require that you uninstall the current driver. Let me know if you need me to elaborate.
