johnnicholls112 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Please Please can someone help me. I have just installed a new Printer, when I Scan a Document it goes to my Pictures which is where I want it but ! when I am doing my Family Tree and I want to add a document or picture to my tree I go to my Pictures or documents to transfer to my Tree it wont do it as its a pdf file. I have Hundreds of pics/documents which I scanned from my old Printer and had no problem whatsoever uploading to my Tree or emails. Now because it is a pdf file I cant upload any new picture or document that I scan (but I still can from the other documents that I scanned from my old printer). Any help pleaseeeeeeeee. John Quote
KenB Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Hi John and welcome to ExTS You need the scanner to save your image as a different format - and not in pdf format. Before you scan - is there an option to select the type of format ? Text documents can be saved with a .doc file extension and photos are usually .jpg [ this will probably be a down arrow next to where it says something like ....... Type of File = PDF ] What is the make and model number of your new printer ? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! It scans then it puts document into its own page so I went on to the Cannon scan settings and this is how it appears : SAVE SETTINGS. File name...................IMG Save in.......................Pictures Date Format...............Auto Jpeg image quality.....Standard (can click to high) PDF compression ......Standard (can click to high) APPLICATION SETTINGS 0 Open with application......Windows Explorer (or can click on Cannon my image garden) 0 Send to folder..................Preview (or add) 0 Attach to email............. .None (or add) 0 Do not start any application Then at the bottom of the page you have DEFAULTS and OK Hope this makes any sense to you and many thanks for any help you can give me.
