maynardvdm Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Now really is to test each component to see which one is the faulty one. This is very difficult seeing you have to open the machine and take off some components off the motherboard. I would say take off the RAM and any other expansion cards of the motherboard so it is just the basics. Do you have an onboard sound and video or seperate cards plugged into the motherboard. Also just wait before you try the taking out of components just to hear what the others say about this cheers Quote We are all members helping other members. maynardvdm Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 What is the make of the Bios, and is there any error messages or does it just freeze? Does it stop when checking the memory? Guest Wolfeymole Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 A checksum error usually means that you have a faulty motherboard battery Adam, replace it and then see. Quote
adam3822 Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 ok cheers for all your help guys i am very greatful Quote
adam3822 Posted February 22, 2008 Author Posted February 22, 2008 hi i have replaced the battery and managed to start so i did a virus scan (nothing was found) when the pc restarted it did the same thing with the beep, so keep tring to start it 9 times out of 10 it will beep but evey now and again it will come to that first bios screen then asks to press F1 to continue or del to enter setup if i push F1 it will go to the next screen with some more info but it will freeze there. Do you guys have any more suggestions cheers Quote
maynardvdm Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 When you get the message press del to go into the BIOS then just save and exit and see if it goes any further. Do not change anything in the BIOS yetThis still sounds like a weak battery. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else.
