RoyPks Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Nine months ago I installed MS Office 97 on my new computer Windows 8.1, no problem. Lately I have been having a few issues with the above therefore uninstalled it ready for a new install, problem being that now my DVD player will not read the Disk, nothing. Why would that be? Have tried MS Money 97 that originally installed, same problem!! Insert Trainz 2006, that opens no problem. Quote
KenB Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Hi, I am not surprised you are having issues - Office 97 is not supposed to be compatible with Win 8. Nor is Office 2003 Can the disk be read on a different machine ? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! RoyPks Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 I installed them 9 months ago and they have run fine since no problem, it is only recently that I have had a problem and I believe that it is my fault for removing something I should not!! Quote
KenB Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 According to Microsoft they are not compatible :) Can the disk be read on a different machine ? Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
RoyPks Posted May 31, 2015 Author Posted May 31, 2015 Unable to try that, but as they are so old and no longer compatable I will ditch them and use a free download offering. Quote
Woodworker Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I happily use Open Office but became so frustrated with dodgy downloads, I bought it on a CD from eBay for less than a couple of quid including postage - Well worthwhile! Quote
KenB Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I use Open Office too - completely free. It is compatible with MS Office and will open any files that you presently have. I have found that if you save a text document in the default format MS Office can't open it. It is simple enough to save as MS compatible [ .doc ] though :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
