mij Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I have listed my DVD's in .xls charts using openoffice. I used at least 4 sets and now I cannot find them. I have tried locating them by what I thought I called them (after desk where they are stored) and by a .xls search but nothing like them is found. They were listed under the general headings of watercolours, acrylics, pastels and oils. jim Quote
KenB Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Hi Jim Open Office uses .ods format by default. .xls is a Microsoft format. This is available - but you need to select it before you save. Have you searched for .ods ? Or are you sure that you saved them in .xls format ? mij Posted June 22, 2015 Author Posted June 22, 2015 Yes I have tried .ods and it finds recent files, specially the most recent ones. These are files that I would have made fairly recently, I did them when I rearanged this room and reorganized the DVDs and put them in order of medium. That was a lot of work. I used the spreadsheet and it's aphabetical sorting for the authors surname. I have used restore a few times but I thought that did not affect files or folders. jim Quote
KenB Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Hi again Windows Key + S ....type in ...restore your files .....click on "Restore your Files with File History" If this is turned on you may be lucky. I have used restore a few times but I thought that did not affect files or folders. It may have. If this is the case you may be able to get them back with Rucuva click here EaseUs is another option click here You should be able to search for specific file formats. mij Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 I tried both of those. Recuva did not find them and easeus required a payment which I did not make. It seems that I will have to make new files. Dang! jim Quote
KenB Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 easeus required a payment I wasn't aware of that Jim - I thought it was free as their Partition software is. Sorry :( If Recuva didn't find anything then it looks as if the files are gone for good. Did Recuva find anything at all ? mij Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 yes, it found those that I had recently disposed in the trash bin. It did not find my others though. I cannot understand my losing them as I would have made copies and saved them on every disk and USB. Ah well, I'll save these I am making for sure. jim Quote
KenB Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Good Luck Jim :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! MiniToolBoxNetwork TestWireless Test
