Plastic Nev Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 You can use photobucket or similar hosting site Bob. However, without knowing what the name is of this "D" partition and what it might contain or how much of it is in use, I am stuck, as I haven't seen the mail. However if there is nothing on it, has no existing name, and it shows as 100% free space, you can either use it for storage of important stuff, or merge it with an existing partition such as "C". Starbuck Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 However, without knowing what the name is of this "D" partition and what it might contain or how much of it is in use, I am stuck, as I haven't seen the mail. Maybe I can shed some light on this. Because Bob sent me some reports a little while ago and I'm terrible for not deleting old emails...... From the FRST report: ==================== Drives ================================ Drive c: (Boot) (Fixed) (Total:910.41 GB) (Free:546.07 GB) NTFS Drive d: (Recover) (Fixed) (Total:20 GB) (Free:8.83 GB) NTFS ==================== MBR & Partition Table ================== ======================================================== Disk: 0 (Size: 931.5 GB) (Disk ID: 0E0722E0) Partition 1: (Active) - (Size=100 MB) - (Type=07 NTFS) Partition 2: (Not Active) - (Size=910.4 GB) - (Type=07 NTFS) Partition 3: (Not Active) - (Size=20 GB) - (Type=07 NTFS) Partition 4: (Not Active) - (Size=1 GB) - (Type=12) and from the OTL report: %SystemDrive% = C: | %SystemRoot% = C:\Windows | %ProgramFiles% = C:\Program Files Drive C: | 910.41 Gb Total Space | 505.53 Gb Free Space | 55.53% Space Free | Partition Type: NTFS Drive D: | 20.00 Gb Total Space | 8.84 Gb Free Space | 44.19% Space Free | Partition Type: NTFS Drive P: | 931.51 Gb Total Space | 93.32 Gb Free Space | 10.02% Space Free | Partition Type: NTFS Seems the D Partition is a recovery partition. KenB Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 The images you sent to me Bob confirm what Pete says - It is a recovery partition. Most of the files / folders were created 2010 ...presumably you bought your computer shortly after this ? It is only 20GB so best left alone. bob12a Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 Thanks ken does this mean that it's a recovery disc partition and would it be the answer to SP1 I did buy the computer in 2010 and this partition was on it Meridian says its instead of a CD but they supply a CD when I bought the computer which we have found it never worked that's all for now talk during the week Bob __------------ Answer dictated to my tablet Quote Bob(bob12a)My 3D pictures need red cyan glasses to viewmedion MD8855,Win 7 IE8, Firefox/3, Avast,MS security essentials, NERO 9,malware bytes.Mailwasher pro ,6.54,Roboform,spybot S&D 1.6, Canon ixus 860 X 2,PS CS5
KenB Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Hi Bob No - it will not be an answer to our SP1 problem. If you used this recovery partition all it would do would be to put your machine back to factory condition ....in other words - how it was when you bought it. No SP1 installed - and you would lose all of the software that you were so keen to hang on to :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
