ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted August 8, 2015 ExTS Admin Posted August 8, 2015 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/windowsdvdplayer_zps0xrqb9gk.jpg Microsoft has released the Windows DVD Player app for Windows PCs and desktops. Users upgrading from Windows 10 from Windows 7 Ultimate, Professional, Home Premium or Windows 8.1 with Media Center will get it as a free app from automatic Windows update for a limited time period -- there's no word on when the trial will end, but we'll update you as soon as it's available. Non-eligible users can also download the app from the Windows Store for $14.99. As the name of the app suggests, it give users the ability to play their favorite DVDs on their Windows 10 computers. The app description reads, "Windows DVD Player for Windows 10 makes it easy to watch your favorite DVDs. Watch both commercial and homemade discs in the DVD-Video format. This app requires a DVD-capable optical drive. " For users who are still confused if they'll get the app as a free download, Microsoft mentions on the support site that it's tied to user's Windows 7 or Windows 8 installation. So, if you upgraded from Windows 10 Insider Preview to the stable version of the operating system, you'll have to re-install Windows 7 or Windows 8 with Media Center to get the app as a free upgrade, however, it will only be for that PC. Users who will purchase the app from the Windows Store will be able to install it on any PC they own. If you upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 with Media Center, and don't see the app on your system, you can check for Windows Update by going to Start Menu >> Update & Security >> Check for Updates. You can check the list of updates being downloaded and it should include the free Windows DVD Player app. Source: http://www.winbeta.org/news/windows-dvd-player-windows-10-available-free-if-you-have-windows-media-center Quote Member of:UNITE
