PEV Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I know this may be against protocol but I'm posting this again as I've had no answers and I'm getting worried to see the message each time I boot up! Here is my original post please advise somebody! I run Windows 8.1 For a while when I boot up at right hand corner of my desk top I'm getting the message 'Failed to connect to Windows service. Couldn't connect to group policy client this problem prevents standard users from signing in. You can review the system event log for details why service didn't respond' I just click the message out and everything seems to work normally but can anyone explain why this message appears and does it indicate any possible problems? Thanks Ray Quote

PEV Posted August 9, 2015 Author Posted August 9, 2015 thanks for the info Ken. I have looked at the link and it seems way above me to sort it out! Everything seems to be working with my PC and once I start working the worrying message goes away. Do you think I should leave alone I is something going to do wrong if I do nothing? Ray Quote
ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted August 10, 2015 ExTS Admin Posted August 10, 2015 Hi Ray, Let's have a look at the system event logs and see if we can narrow this down for you. Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your Desktop. Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click and select "Run as Administrator". Checkmark following radio buttons: List last 10 Event Viewer log List Devices (Only Problems) List Users, partition and memory size. Click Go the results will appear as a txt file on your Desktop. Please copy & paste this report in your next reply. Thanks Quote Member of:UNITE
PEV Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 Hi Pete Thanks for coming back with offer of help. I have today spoken to a local IT engineer who has talked me though on the phone doing a system restore and it has sorted everything out by restoring back to a point before the trouble started and everything is working fine again ATM. Should I now carry on and not use minitoolbox? Ray Quote
ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted August 11, 2015 ExTS Admin Posted August 11, 2015 Hi Ray If everything is OK, we won't need the mini toolbox report. I'm glad you got the problem sorted. Quote Member of:UNITE
